This weekend is a wonderful Obon Festival that is taking place in Dublin, Ohio! This festival is the perfect excite to wear a yukata, and enjoy some summer fun!
Join JASCO and Tensuke Market for a special festival in celebration of the Japanese festival Obon. A Buddhist celebration held in later summer to honor the spirits of one's ancestors, Obon traditionally includes an event celebration featuring games, food, and dancing.
We will be hosting our Obon celebration on Sunday, August 22 beginning at 4 PM at Coffman Pavilion, Coffman Park, Dublin. The festival will feature games, food (which we will be offering in partnership with Tensuke Market), performances by Dublin Taiko and Wadaiko Gouken, and the special folk dancing of Obon called bon odori.
The schedule is as follows:
4:00 PM - Dublin Taiko performance
5:00 PM - Wadaiko Gouken performance
6:00 PM - Bon odori dancing
Participation is free and open to the public.
If you do plan on visiting the festival, we request that you park in one of the Coffman Park parking lots on Coffman Park Drive or Commerce Parkway. Please do NOT park at the Dublin Community Recreation Center - parking there is for Rec Center guests only. We're also working on an additional parking option, and hope to be able to share more information soon.
We look forward to celebrating with everyone on August 22!
