This Weekend: Chicago Japanese Sword Show

This weekend we are excited to be in the Chicago area, and are proud to be a part of one of the most prestigious shows in North America dedicated to Japanese blades! This weekend we are selling Japanese kimono and antique samurai armor shrines at the Chicago Area Japanese Collectibles And Sword Show. From April 27th to 29th we will be at the show, and will have a selection of higher end stock tailored more toward collectors of Japanese arts. If you love Japanese swords this show is a must. At this show there will be a shinsa, which is a formal identification service for Japanese blades. The shinsa will specialize in a variety of sword fittings and accessories: tsuba, menuki, fuchi-gashira, koshirae, and more. There is a nice write up about the team coming from Japan to perform the appraisals on the official show site: "The group of experts coming from Japan to perform the appraisals are from the non-profit Nihon Token Hozon Kai (NTHK-NPO) which is the oldest sword appraisal group in Japan, dating back to the Meiji period (founded in 1910). The appraisal team coming to the US in 2018 is one of the top appraisal teams in the world; the NTHK-NPO is second only to the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (NBTHK) in the number of swords they receive each month for appraisal."

We look forward to seeing you there, and plan on returning with a number of photos from this show.
