This weekend I am excited to be attending the Motor City Steam Con in Detroit! No doubt some of you are wondering why a kimono dealers is going to a steampunk convnetion. Have you ever seen kimono in steampunk fashion? Most people have not. However, in Japan steampunk is taking off and the outfits we are seeing coming out of Japan are a perfect blend of east meets west in steampunk! There is a annual event hosted in Tokyo called the Tokyo Steam Gardens, and the photos of the attendees are stunning! Here is a sample gallery of the Tokyo Steampunk scene, and how they use kimono!
